About This Book
Overview

Atlantic Sturgeon hatch in estuaries and upstream in rivers, where they stay for 3-4 years before heading out to sea. Young ones are seldom seen in their freshwater homes. They suck up little aquatic plants, invertebrates, and insect larve with their underside mouth. In the ocean, they dine on small fishes too. These slow-growing, armored fish can live for decades, measuring up to 12′ long and weighing 700 pounds.
