Overview

A book to take with you when you go sailing or power-boating, in case a medical emergency or other medical problem arises. It emphasizes head trauma and management of orthopedic injuries, seasickness and issues relating to cold injuries (“cockpit foot”), illness after exposure after leaving a port-of-call, and burns (including exposure to the sun and/or boiling water in the galley). All these and more are discussed with treatment options included.

ABOUTH THE AUTHOR:
Veteran outdoor author William Forgey, M.D. is a Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at Indiana University and a Professeur Associé, Sciences de la santé, Universite d’etat d’Haȉti.

He is a member of the board of trustees of the International Association for Medical Assistance to Travelers, a fellow of the Explorers Club, and a past president of the Wilderness Medical Society. He spends his time during the year practicing medicine in northern Indiana or volunteering in Haiti.

He is the author of many wilderness medicine and camping books, including The Prepper’s Medical Handbook (Lyons Press) 2020 and Wilderness Medicine, 7th Edition (Falcon) 2017.

He lives in Crown Point, Indiana.
