About This Book
Overview

Bob Jacklin has over forty years of Fly-Fishing and Fly-Tying experience. He is a veteran guide and outfitter in the Yellowstone area and a world class fly-fishing and fly-casting instructor.

Bob has been tying flies commercially since 1963. In the mid 1960’s Bob tied flies with the southern New York Fish and Game Association every year during the New York Sportsman’s Show. Bob Jacklin was the first to demonstrate fly-tying during the Federation of Fly Fishers International conclave in 1968, at Jackson Lake Lodge, Wyoming. His simple fly-tying demonstration started a tradition with the FFF that has become a major part of the annual Conclave and Fly Fishing show. Bob appears at many of the International Sportsmen’s Expositions and Fly-Fishing Shows as well as regional programs with the FFF and Trout Unlimited. In 2000, Mr. Jacklin was the recipient of the FFF’s Buz Buszek Memorial Fly-tying award for his many contributions to the art of fly-tying.

Bob enjoys tying and sharing his wealth of knowledge with others. In this instructional video, Bob covers the most basic steps to constructing a simple fly like an inchworm. As he progresses into more complicated applications of thread and materials, Bob gives an excellent commentary on how to work with and handle these materials. As he ties, Bob relates anecdotes and stories about some of his mentors like Lee Wulff, Art Flick, Gover Kookogey and more. In this session, Bob covers seven different flies with an in-depth analysis of each fly, it’s history and the proper applications of fur, feathers and steel. This is all done with a straight forwarward approach that benefits the beginner as well as the seasoned fly-tier.
